Five rings sit under ₹60,000. Three are 22K gold: Clover Motif, Signature Floral and Star Engraved Square. Two carry natural diamonds: Classic Solitaire and Twin Stone.

How much should you spend? There's no fixed rule, so start from grams. Our 22K men's rings currently work out to about ₹16,860 per gram, all-in. So a 3 g band lands near ₹50,600, and a 4 g band near ₹67,400.

Diamond rings don't follow weight that neatly. The Royal Grid weighs 1.21 g less than the Split Band, yet costs ₹7,945 more. The stones make the difference.

How many grams should a men's gold ring be? For a 22K gold ring for men worn daily, 3 to 4 g is a sensible range. Under 3 g, a wide design can feel thin. Above 6 g, you're buying a statement ring for occasions.

Gold or diamond: which ring will he actually wear?

Choose 22K gold for hands-on work and an 18K diamond ring for desk jobs and evenings out. Both work on the ring ceremony tray. The real test comes three months later, on an ordinary Tuesday.

A plain gold band has nothing to snag or loosen. It's also the easiest ring to resize. On exchange, we deduct stone weight, making charges and GST, so a plain band keeps more of its value.

A diamond ring photographs better and suits men who already wear a watch or bracelet. Still, small stones need a yearly check of their settings. If he plays cricket every weekend, keep that in mind.

22K or 18K: which gold suits a men's ring?

Use 22K for plain gold bands and 18K for any ring set with diamonds. The World Gold Council's guide to gold carat and purity puts 22K at 91.7% gold and 18K at 75%.

That extra alloy in 18K makes it harder. As a result, it grips small diamonds more securely. That's why every diamond ring in our D/6 series is 18K.

On the other hand, 22K shows dents and scratches sooner. It still suits a plain band, because there's no stone to lose. Our gold metal guide explains each purity in more detail.

Designs he'll keep wearing after the ceremony

The best engagement ring for men matches how he spends a normal working day. Start there, then choose the look.

Plain and textured 22K bands

A plain or lightly textured 22K band suits men who drive, lift, cook or work with tools. Texture also hides fine scratches better than a mirror polish. For a simple engagement ring for men he'll wear daily, start here.

The Clover Motif ring (2.89 g) and Signature Floral ring (2.95 g) both stay light. For a completely plain band, look at .

Signet and engraved-top rings

A signet ring has a flat top face, usually engraved. It reads as formal, so it suits festive wear and family events.

The Star Engraved Square ring (3.19 g) is the lighter pick. For more presence, see the Royal Floral ring (4.02 g) or the Royal Embossed ring (6.34 g).

A Bengali family might prefer a coin-topped gini ring with its own meaning and designs. If he likes a heavier look on the wrist too, pair the ring with a silver bracelet for men.

Low-profile diamond bands for office wear

A low-profile 18K diamond ring for men keeps the stones close to the metal. Nothing catches on a keyboard or shirt cuff. If he types all day, skip stones that sit high above the band.

The Classic Solitaire (2.50 g) has one centre diamond. The Twin Stone (2.76 g) sets two. For a wider look, the Split Band (3.82 g) divides the band into two lines.

Cluster diamond rings for a bolder look

A cluster ring groups several small diamonds on one top face, so it looks bigger than one stone would. It suits men who enjoy wearing jewellery and don't do heavy work with their hands.

Compare the Royal Grid (2.61 g), the Cluster ring (3.89 g) and the Round Cluster (5.78 g). For more styles and price bands, see our guide to diamond ring designs for men. Our gents gold ring design guide covers plain gold styles.

Natural vs laboratory-grown diamond: India's 2026 rules

In India, the word "diamond" on its own now means a natural diamond. Indian Jeweller reports that BIS adopted IS 19469:2025 on 15 January 2026.

Under this standard, a stone grown in a laboratory must be called a "laboratory-grown diamond" or "laboratory-created diamond". Short forms like "lab diamond" or "LGD" don't meet it. Sellers also can't describe laboratory-grown stones as "cultured", "pure", "conflict-free", "earth-friendly" or "nature's".

Natural stones have a rule too. Terms like "mined diamond" and "earth-mined diamond" aren't allowed.

What does this mean when you buy a diamond engagement ring for men? Ask the seller to write "natural diamond" or "laboratory-grown diamond" on your bill. A laboratory-grown stone usually costs less than a natural one of the same size, so the label affects value. Every diamond in our men's rings is natural.

How to find his ring size secretly

Borrow a ring he already wears on the same finger, then measure its inside diameter in millimetres. That one number gets you close to the right fit, even for a surprise engagement ring for men.

  1. Pick the right ring. It must come from the same finger on the same hand. A little-finger ring will mislead you.

  2. Measure across the inside, edge to edge, with a ruler. Or trace the inner circle on paper and bring it to us.

  3. Skip the string method. String stretches and usually gives a loose reading.

  4. Check his knuckle. If his knuckles are large, the ring must still slide over them.

  5. Plan a resize after the ceremony. We resize rings free.

Size numbers differ between jewellers, so give us millimetres, not a size number. For a quick check, multiply the inner diameter by 3.14 to get the inner circumference. A 19 mm ring works out to about 59.7 mm.

Two small traps catch people. Fingers swell in heat, so don't measure after a hot afternoon outdoors. A wide band also feels tighter than a slim one of the same size. For more on fit, see our ring for men guide to price, hallmark and size.

Matching couple rings and engraving names inside

Couple engagement rings look matched when they share gold colour and finish, even if the designs differ. His 22K band can sit beside her 18K diamond ring and still feel like a pair.

Check both in daylight, though. 22K looks a deeper yellow than 18K, and some couples notice. For a designed pair, consider

We laser-engrave names inside the ring. Two first names and a date fit best, for example "Riya & Arjun 14.02.27".

Get the size right before you engrave. Resizing can cut through engraved text. Also, check that the engraving doesn't cover the HUID, which is lasered inside too.

Which hand and finger do Indian men wear it on?

Men usually wear the engagement ring on the ring finger, but the hand differs between families. Some choose the right hand, others the left. So follow your family's custom.

Ask the elders before you size the ring. His right and left ring fingers may not be the same size.

Ceremonies differ as well. You might exchange rings at a ring ceremony, an ashirbad (the Bengali blessing ceremony) or the wedding itself. Does your family place the rings on a silver thala? Our guide to silver plate, glass, bowl and spoon prices helps. For the puja, see silver pooja items for a home mandir.

Platinum vs gold wedding ring: how they compare

We don't sell platinum, so this is a straight comparison. A platinum ring for men is naturally white and usually much purer than 18K gold. It's also denser, so a platinum ring weighs more than the same ring in gold.

With wear, platinum scratches tend to leave a soft matte look. Gold is widely accepted for exchange by Indian jewellers, and hallmarked gold carries a HUID you can check yourself. Prices for both change often, so compare them on the same day.

What you pay for: weight, making, stones and GST

A ring's price is net gold weight times the day's rate, plus making charges, plus stone value, plus GST. Making charges cover the craftsman's work.

Take the Clover Motif ring. 2.89 g × ₹14,195 gives ₹41,024 of gold. The listed price is ₹48,565, so making charges and GST add about ₹7,541.

For ready-made gold jewellery, GST is 3%. To check any bill line by line, use our gold calculator for jewellery bills. It also explains why some bills show 3% and others 5%.

Hallmark, HUID and diamond checks before you pay

A hallmarked gold ring carries three marks: the BIS logo, the purity and a six-digit HUID. The Bureau of Indian Standards explains these hallmark marks, such as 22K916 and 18K750.

GJEPC reports that from 1 April 2023, hallmarked gold jewellery can't be sold without a HUID. You can check that code in the BIS Care app's "Verify HUID" feature. Every gold ring we sell carries a BIS hallmark and HUID.

For diamonds, the bill should state "natural diamond", the number of stones and the total carat weight. A grading report is a separate document from a gem lab. Ask whether one comes with the ring before you call it certified.

For a fuller walk-through, read hallmark gold vs BIS gold and our gold purity check before buying.

Resizing, exchange and care after the ceremony

We resize rings free after the ceremony. Plain 22K bands resize most easily. Rings with diamonds along the band have less room to change.

Our exchange scheme deducts stone weight, making charges and GST. A gifted ring can be exchanged by the person wearing it, without the buyer. You don't need the bill or HUID, and there's no time limit. Our FAQ page lists the current terms.

For care, take the ring off at the gym and when using cleaning chemicals. Store it apart from other jewellery. Bring diamond rings in once a year for a setting check.
