1000+ Baby Gold Rings: Designs and Grams in 2026

A baby gold ring is a keepsake first, worn for a few watched minutes and then put away. Its price is simple to check: weight times today's gold rate, plus making charges and 3% GST. Rings under 2 grams don't legally need a hallmark, so get purity in writing instead.
That's the short answer. Below, every rupee figure uses our Kolkata rate board from 23 September 2026, 10:57 am. Gold moves daily, so re-run the maths with the live Kolkata gold rate before you visit.
Baby Gold Ring Price Today, Worked From the Rate
On 23 September 2026, our board showed 22K (916) gold at ₹14,560 a gram. 18K (750) stood at ₹11,800. So 1 gram of 22K metal alone is worth ₹14,560 before any labour.
That number exposes a common problem. Some national pages still price a 1 g baby ring at ₹10,000 to ₹12,000. At today's rate, that wouldn't even cover the gold.
The table below uses real making charges from our own baby ring range. On our 22K baby rings, making runs from 18% to 50% of the gold value, or a flat fee. GST at 3% is then added to gold plus making, as our product pages show.
Net weight | 22K gold value | 22K all-in (18–50% making + 3% GST) | 18K gold value | 18K all-in (same basis) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
0.5 g | ₹7,280 | ₹8,848 to ₹11,248 | ₹5,900 | ₹7,171 to ₹9,116 |
1 g | ₹14,560 | ₹17,696 to ₹22,495 | ₹11,800 | ₹14,342 to ₹18,231 |
1.5 g | ₹21,840 | ₹26,544 to ₹33,743 | ₹17,700 | ₹21,513 to ₹27,346 |
2 g | ₹29,120 | ₹35,392 to ₹44,990 | ₹23,600 | ₹28,683 to ₹36,462 |
Rates: Biswakarma Jewellery Shilpalaya board, Kolkata, 23 Sept 2026, 10:57 am. Gold value is our arithmetic. Your final bill uses the rate on the day you buy.
Net weight means the gold alone. Gross weight includes any stones or enamel. Always multiply the rate by net weight, never gross.
The 1.5 g and 2 g rows are there for comparison only. We don't suggest a baby ring that heavy, for reasons covered further down.
Why a 0.5 g Ring Costs More Than Half a 1 g Ring
Making charges don't shrink much with the gold. A jeweller spends nearly the same bench time on a 0.5 g ring as a 1 g one. So on tiny pieces, labour becomes a big slice of the bill.
For that reason, some shops, ours included, charge a flat fee on light rings. Several of our 22K baby rings carry a flat ₹1,950. That's 27% of the gold on a 0.5 g ring, but only 13% at 1 g.
Two Real Bills From Our Baby Ring Range
Here are two rings from our site, repriced at the 23 September rate. Each line is shown separately, the way your invoice should be.
Line | 0.50 g, 22K, SKU 53/170 | 0.85 g, 22K, SKU 53/26 |
|---|---|---|
Gold value | ₹7,280 | ₹12,376 |
Making charge | ₹3,276 (45%) | ₹1,950 (flat) |
Subtotal | ₹10,556 | ₹14,326 |
GST at 3% | ₹316.68 | ₹429.78 |
Total | ₹10,872.68 | ₹14,755.78 |
Look at the gap. The heavier ring holds 70% more gold, yet costs only about 36% more. Labour pricing explains the difference. Ask for making in rupees, not only as a percentage, and compare that line across shops.

How Many Grams a Baby Gold Ring Should Weigh
Aim for under 1 gram. Between 0.4 g and 0.8 g is plenty for a ring that lives mostly in its box.
Weight doesn't make a baby ring safer or better. The finger sets the size, and a heavier ring is simply a thicker shank or bigger top. That adds cost and bulk to a tiny hand.
Our site lists 85 baby rings in 22K. Bar one heavier piece, they run from 0.38 g to 1.31 g. Half weigh 0.58 g or less. Our 14K baby rings are lighter still, at 0.23 g to 0.32 g.
We already advise against 1 to 2 g rings for a baby in our one gram gold ring price guide. A ring small enough for an infant finger slips off easily. Spend the extra on something the child can use later.
22K, 18K or 14K Gold for a Baby Ring
22K means 91.6% gold, marked 916. 18K is 75% gold (750), and 14K is 58.5% (585). Lower karats use more alloy, so they're harder but paler.
For a keepsake ring, 22K usually makes sense. It holds its gold value best, and the soft metal matters little for a few minutes of wear. It also carries the traditional colour families expect at a ceremony.
18K suits rings with set stones, because harder metal grips them better. Even so, we don't currently list 18K baby rings. Our baby range is 22K and 14K only.
14K is the budget route. On our site, 14K baby rings cost ₹3,954 to ₹4,945 at today's rate, including GST. The catch is less gold for your money.
Cute Baby Gold Ring Designs, and Which to Skip
Every design below gets a plain safe-or-skip note. "Safe" here means safe for short, watched wear. No baby ring is safe unsupervised.
Gold Ring for Baby Girl: Floral, Bow and Heart Tops
Tiny floral top. One small flower on a plain band. The raised petals are low, so edges stay gentle. Safe for watched wear.
Bow knot. A soft bow shape with rounded loops. Check the underside for sharp solder points before you buy. Safe.
Heart motif. A small flat heart suits a first birthday. Pick one with a closed heart, not an open outline that snags. Safe.
Gold Ring for Baby Boy: Stars, Crests and Plain Bands
Star or hex crest. Geometric tops read well on a boy's hand and in photos. Choose flat engraving over raised points. Safe.
Plain band. The simplest baby ring design in gold, and the easiest to resize later. A good pick for a naming ceremony. Safe.
Nazariya (evil-eye) motif. The evil-eye charm is a family tradition, not a guarantee of anything. Safe if the eye is enamel, not a glued stone.
Designs to Keep in the Box, Not on the Hand
Coloured stone tops. Any set stone can loosen and become a choking hazard. Buy these as keepsakes only. Skip for wear.
Open adjustable band. The two ends don't meet, so the size can shift. Useful later, but the gap can pinch. Skip for a newborn.

Can a Newborn Wear a Gold Ring? The Watched-Wear Rule
The American Academy of Pediatrics doesn't recommend that infants wear any jewellery, as its parent advice on teething jewellery states. That page, updated in December 2018, names choking and strangulation as the two risks.
So our rule is simple. A baby gold ring is a gift and keepsake first. It goes on for the ceremony and the photographs, with an adult watching. Then it comes off.
Never leave it on for sleep, feeds or bath time. Those are the moments nobody is watching the hand.
Shops disagree on a starting age, and none of their age limits is a law. A better test is behaviour. While your baby still puts things in their mouth, keep the ring in its box.
Gold rarely irritates skin, but the alloy in it occasionally can. If you see redness under the band, take it off and ask your paediatrician.
Does a Baby Gold Ring Need a Hallmark Under 2 Grams?
No. BIS exempts articles weighing less than two grams from mandatory hallmarking, as its hallmarking FAQ for jewellers confirms. A jeweller can still choose to hallmark them.
That matters because nearly every baby ring weighs under 2 g. Every baby ring on our site does, bar one. So a missing HUID (the six-digit hallmark ID) isn't a red flag by itself. Any seller telling you every baby ring must carry one is wrong.
Kolkata and North 24 Parganas are both on BIS's mandatory hallmarking list, per its 3 August 2026 order. So pieces of 2 g and above sold here must be hallmarked.
Voluntary hallmarking on lighter pieces costs extra. A BIS gazette notification of 14 September 2026 set the fee at ₹75 per gold article. Older pages still quote ₹45.
If your ring does carry a hallmark, look for three marks. You'll see the BIS logo, the purity grade like 22K916, and the HUID. You can check the HUID in the BIS Care app, using its Verify HUID feature.
Checking Purity When There's No HUID
First, ask for the purity in writing on the invoice. A line such as "22K (916), net weight 0.50 g" gives you something to rely on later.
Next, ask for an XRF test in front of you. XRF is a machine that reads metal content. It takes about a minute and doesn't mark the ring.
Our guide to checking gold purity before buying covers the other at-home and in-store tests.

Baby Ring Size: Measure the Finger, Not the Age
Published baby ring size charts disagree, sometimes by a full size for the same age. So don't buy by age alone.
Measure instead. Wrap a soft thread around the base of the finger. Mark where it meets, then lay it flat against a ruler. That's the finger circumference in millimetres.
Take the measurement to the showroom, or share it before you order. Ask for a fit that slides over the knuckle without force. Too loose and it falls off. Too tight and it marks the skin.
Adjustable Bands and Resizing as the Baby Grows
A baby's fingers grow fast, so any fixed ring is outgrown within months. That's another reason to treat it as a keepsake.
A bypass band, where the two ends overlap, can be eased open a little as the finger grows. Plain bands can usually be sized up slightly. Heavily patterned shanks often can't, because the pattern breaks. Ask about resizing before you pay, not after.
Baby Rings: Gold or Another Gift for Annaprashan?
Annaprashan, called mukhe bhaat in Bengali homes, is a baby's first rice meal. Namakaran is the naming ceremony. Both are common times to gift a baby gold ring.
If you're the maternal uncle or a grandparent, check the family's custom before choosing. Some families expect a specific piece from a specific relative.
Some families use the ring in the ritual itself rather than on the finger.
A ring isn't the only choice. A light baby gold chain or a pair of baby bangles suits the same occasion. For a smaller budget, silver anklets are a traditional alternative.
A first birthday suits a heart or star top, which reads well in photos. At a naming ceremony, a plain band is the classic choice.
